Foam cores are one of the newer directions in paddle construction. Instead of, or in addition to, a polypropylene honeycomb, the core uses an engineered foam that gives a crisper, more lively response and can resist the core crush that sometimes affects honeycomb paddles over time. Builds vary a lot between factories, so sampling and play-testing are especially important with this category.
